What is involved in the application process?

Your student must complete the online application.

Also, those who do not meet the minimum academic requirements must submit two letters of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, coach or pastor/youth leader.

Thus, in order for your application to be complete, you must submit your online application, your $100 deposit, and your letters of recommendation (if applicable).

When is the application deadline?

Applications for the summer of 2020 will be available through May 31st, or until spaces are filled.

What is the cost and when is the money due?

The total cost is $500 per person, with a $100 deposit due at the time you apply. The remaining $400 is due by June 14th.

How do I pay?

You may pay online by credit card using our secure online payment form; or you can mail your payment (Checks made out to Gardner-Webb University with The Honors Experience in the memo line) to the following address:

What does the cost include?

Tuition, lodging, meals, transportation, and materials

Where will I stay on campus?

Students will be housed in our on-campus Suites, which are part of our student housing here at GWU. Each suite contains 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette and a common area. Each suite will house 6 students and one adult staff member (a current GWU student).

What should I bring?

Bedding/sleeping bag and a pillow for an extra-long twin bed. (A linen packet can be provided for you given prior notice and an extra fee of $25). Casual attire for academic sessions; shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes for recreational activities. Swimsuit, towel, toiletries and personal items. Bible, pen and notebooks for the classroom.

What activities are planned?

Students take field experiences to learn about their topic off campus. Consult with your class professor to learn more about your class field experience locations. Some examples include: forensic crime labs, Revolutionary War battle sites, and cancer research institutes.

When do I check in and when do I check out?

Students need to arrive between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th. Check out will be Friday afternoon at 1pm.

If I am flying, is there any transportation provided for arrivals and departures?

Given prior knowledge, we can provide transportation to/from the airport for students flying into Charlotte (CLT) or Greenville (GSP). Flights into Charlotte/Greenville on Sunday, July 12th, should arrive no later than 2:00 p.m. Return flights must depart by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17th. Again, you will need to inform a director if you will require transportation.
